Spot Cleaning the Bathroom

My least favorite room to clean is the bathroom. But you can make cleaning the bathroom easier by spot cleaning. Spot cleaning in the bathroom should be done as necessary but I also recommend light cleaning on a daily basis. If you do, you will find that it only becomes necessary to deep clean once-a-week. And you have the assurance that your bathroom is always ready for guests. To make spot cleaning easier, keep cleaning supplies in your bathroom. If you have to retrieve them from another room, you are more likely to forget or just skip it. For cleaning … Continue reading

Spring Cleaning the Kitchen – Part 4

It’s time to do some spring cleaning in the kitchen. Start off by removing as many items as you can, including those things you keep on your countertops. Take out the table, chairs, microwave and so on. The more you are able to remove from the room, the easier your cleaning will be. Dust the ceiling and corners of the walls. Spot wash walls, doorknobs, outside of cabinets, switch plates, vents, etc. If you are dealing with grease or grime—especially around your stove—you may need a special cleaner. Dust or use a slightly damp cloth to clean wall hangings. Dust … Continue reading

Spring Cleaning the Bathroom – Part 3

Do you feel that spring cleaning is in the air? This is the perfect time of the year to deep clean and organize those rooms. And today we are going to be focusing on the bathroom. Without maintaining the bathroom, it can quickly fall into bad shape. Depending on how badly your bathroom needs it, you may need to do a thorough scrub down. My advice is to start with the decluttering, with the most likely culprit to be the medicine cabinet. This is a great opportunity to go through and throw out expired or unused medicines. Be sure to … Continue reading

Cleaning after Illness Has Hit Your Home

Although it is the last thing on earth we like to think about when we have just come out of a bout of sickness, cleaning is important. I have been on a cleaning rampage since the stomach flu hit my family big time. It’s important to clean however, because there may be bacteria and germs left over. The last thing I want is to recover, only to get sick again. Although there are lots of areas to clean after your family has been sick, I am going to focus on a couple of them. First, wash all of your bedding. … Continue reading

Cleaning Timesavers

On to more time savers. Yesterday I wrote about time saving laundry tips, now it’s time to tackle the cleaning itself. We all dread it but it has to be done. Why not find ways to do it faster and maybe even easier. Think about the chore you dread. Is it cleaning the kitchen after dinner. Vacuuming? Cleaning off your nightstand? Whatever it is that you dread and put off, time it. When I look at the kitchen after dinner all I can see if a huge amount of time spent cleaning, especially since I no longer use my dishwasher … Continue reading

Cleaning in 30 Minutes or Less: Mondays

Today’s blog is going to address how I clean in 30 minutes or less on Mondays. By keeping a consistent schedule, my house is ready for guests at the drop of a hat most of the time. I start off each morning with a cup of coffee. That is my fuel to get me started. I begin my cleaning routine within minutes of waking up. Why? I have a couple of reasons for this. The first is that I want to get the cleaning out of the way, so I can move on to bigger and better things. The second … Continue reading

Basic Cleaning Checklist

In trying to help my daughter be prepared to take care of her first home one big thing we needed to do was come up with how often things need to be cleaned. Unfortunately for Hailey I’m one of those mom’s who does everything herself. Hailey has no idea how often to clean the bathroom or change her sheets, it’s always been done for her. So here is a basic list I came up with to help her keep things clean. *Bathrooms should be cleaned once a week. As the germiest place in the house they really need a good … Continue reading

Cleaning The New Apartment

At the beginning of February Hailey will get the keys to her first apartment. She and I have both taken the day off to get the apartment clean and ready for furniture. Some people say you don’t need to clean an apartment, the complex will clean it before you move in. I’m sorry, that’s just not a good enough clean for me. I’ve seen how those apartments get cleaned. I plan on teaching Hailey how to start with a clean home so it’s easier to maintain. We will clean all the cabinets inside and out and then line them with … Continue reading
