Mapping Your Bedroom with Feng Shui

In my last blog, I introduced you to the ancient Chinese method of Feng Shui. I explained that it is supposed to help bring good health and balance to your life. The bedroom is the place where Feng Shui is mostly used. Of course, you can do this with any room. But as an example, we are going to be looking at how you map your bedroom with Feng Shui. One of the reasons why the bedroom is a popular room for this principle is because it helps to create that sanctuary we need. It is where we rest, sleep … Continue reading

What Is Feng Shui?

I was recently watching a local talk show (similar to the “The View” but hosted by newscasters) and one of them was talking about something called Feng Shui. It is an ancient Chinese means of balancing the energies in a room in order to give those who live in it good health and fortune. Since it follows the Taoist vision, I personally don’t believe in the balancing of “energy.” My belief system is a little different but I still thought it had some interesting concepts, especially when it comes to mapping out a room with this. In my next blog … Continue reading

Inviting, Pleasing to the Eye and Comfortable

What emotions do you experience when you enter your bedroom? Does it feel like a sanctuary, a place where you can truly unwind after a long and difficult day? The Joy of Redoing a Room

There is one room in this house I haven’t been able to get my hands on for a few years now. It is my daughter’s bedroom. But a couple of weeks ago she went away for camp and decided she was ready to get rid of her dark purple walls, black trim and black bed. I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear this…especially when she picked out very light purple and blue paints. We hadn’t seen her floor in months…I’m not kidding. Now you have to understand, I used to be the type of person who practically … Continue reading

We Never Make Our Beds

After reading fellow blogger Carol Paxman’s “Make It Easier and It Will Get Done,” I couldn’t help but chuckle. She shared that she wanted to work on a habit, making her bed. I don’t know if this will shock her and others but no one in my house has ever made their bed…I’m not kidding. I hadn’t thought about it much until I read her blog. I had to ask myself, where did that bad habit of not making my bed come from? I realized it began when my husband and I were first married. He oftentimes worked second shift, … Continue reading
